Setting the character encoding in Firefox

If a web page does not identify the character encoding of its content, Firefox will fall back to a default choice. To make sure that your defalt choice is Unicode, follow these steps.

  1. In the top right, choose the icon that look like 3 horizontal lines.
  2. At the very bottom of the pop-up sidebar select Customize.
  3. Drag and click Character Encoding into the side bar. character encoding choice
  4. Select Exit Customize.
  5. Repeat Step 1 to open the side bar.
  6. Select Character Encoding.
  7. At the top of the menu select Unicode.
