This package extends the PolytonicGreek type with additional punctuation symbols. (See documentation for the current version of PolytonicGreek.)
Manuscript punctuation
The ManuscriptOrthography module includes a number of punctuation characters that are not valid in the standard print orthography of the PolytonicGreek module.
- ⁑ (Unicode
\x2051, "two asterisks aligned veritically"), colloquially "the fishtail," marks the end of a unit, and is standard punctuation to indicate the end of a scholion. - ‡ (Unicode
\x2021, "double dagger") marks the beginning of a major section, such as a new book of the Iliad. - ¶ (Unicode
\x00B6, "pilcrow sign") occurs in the middle of an extended prose section to mark the beginning of a minor or sub-division.
Manuscript "accents" (colon?)
- ⸌ (Unicode
\x2e0c, "left raised omission bracket") encodes a mark that resembles a second grave accent. Its usage is uncertain. It occurs primarily in μὲ⸌ν or δὲ⸌, and may mark some kind of syntactic colon.
